55 plus Adult Living Communities are
becoming much more of a trend all over the country, but specially in North
Florida where the Baby Boomer market is growing.   Builders and developers realize the demand
and are looking to supply buyers with the life style that complements that time
in their life.

The key factors to these communities
which cater to this group are low maintenance living, single story homes and open
floor plans that are easy to navigate and of course resort style amenities.

When I moved to Northeast Florida
fifteen years ago there were only four such 55 Plus communities.   Now there are more than ten.  Builders that were not interested in this
specific market a few years ago have realized that this group of buyers is
going to make up a larger percentage of the market share in new home sales.

The newer communities depending on
the location and amenities they have to offer could start in the low $300, 000s
and head towards the upper $400,000s.

Currently a few of the original 55
plus communities are built out and have only re-sales available.   The prices in these neighborhoods can start
in the low $200,000s which make them a very attractive and affordable purchase
for retirees living on a fixed income.
